Our work sits at the intersection of AI, education, and economic mobility. We research and design human-centered, context-aware AI solutions that support individuals as they navigate the complexity of education, training, and career pathways. Our work is informing the development of a learner-centered pathways model that can accelerate the transformation of our country’s education and workforce systems. Our flagship product, the AI Guide, provides personalized, natural-language guidance to learners on their lifelong journeys through career choices, academic and training programs, financial aid opportunities, and basic needs resources.

We partner closely with state agencies, school districts, colleges, workforce organizations, and employers. Our goal is not simply to build products, but to strengthen education-to-career systems in US states, driving higher enrollment, completion, and equitable career outcomes.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll own end-to-end product development across frontend, backend, and AI-powered services. You'll bring technical leadership from day one: shaping architecture, establishing best practices, and mentoring team members as we grow.

This role is ideal for engineers with 6+ years of experience who thrive in fast-paced environments and want to build foundational systems at a mission-driven startup.

What You'll Do

Own and architect features from UI to backend services
Lead design and implementation of AI/LLM-powered functionality
Drive technical decisions on system design, tooling, and infrastructure
Improve performance, reliability, and developer experience
Mentor engineers and shape engineering culture

What You'll Bring

6+ years of software engineering experience
Experience with AI/LLM APIs and RAG pipelines (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, etc.)
Backend: Node.js (TypeScript) and/or Python (FastAPI, async)
Frontend: React, TypeScript
Databases: MongoDB and SQL (Redis a plus)
System design and architecture experience
Experience with agile methodologies and fast iteration cycles
Strong ownership mindset and communication skills

Nice to Have

Familiarity with vector or graph databases (e.g., Neo4j)
Startup experience

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $150K–$190K based on experience
