About Fylm TV

Fylm TV is a creator economy platform offering a Netflix-style viewing experience, curating high-quality independent films, shorts, and series while giving filmmakers built-in monetization and audience engagement tools. As films gain views, revenue, and engagement, IP buyers and studios can track traction to pursue acquisition deals through the platform.

We currently have 70% of the MVP completed, approaching the launch of our film submission portal, and preparing for our film festival in November 2026, which will serve as a key driver of growth, content acquisition, and brand awareness.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a CTO or Lead Engineer to join Fylm TV as a foundational technical leader. You will own the platform’s architecture, scalability, and evolution, while working closely with the CEO to bring the product vision to life.

This is a hands-on role, where you will be actively building while also making high-level technical decisions. This is an equity-only role until we achieve traction and raise funding.

Current Platform & Tech Stack

We have an MVP that is close to launch, with the following architecture:

Frontend: React application

Backend: Node.js environment

Containerization: Docker

Cloud & Storage:

AWS S3 for film-related images
Firebase (Firestore/DB) for user and film metadata
Firebase Cloud Storage for user-uploaded assets (e.g., profile pictures)

Video Infrastructure:

Bunny.net for video hosting and streaming

Films are stored and streamed via Bunny.net and referenced by ID within the platform

We are nearing MVP launch, and the next phase involves refinement, scaling, and expansion of core features.

Important Note on Tech Direction

While we have an existing stack and architecture, we are open to evolving or rethinking parts of the system.

As CTO / Lead Engineer, you will:

Evaluate the current architecture
Identify limitations or risks
Recommend improvements or changes
Lead any necessary refactoring or rebuilding efforts

We are looking for someone who can balance pragmatism (ship fast) with long-term scalability (build right).

What You’ll Do

1. Own Technical Vision & Architecture

Define the long-term technical strategy for Fylm TV
Evaluate and evolve the current stack and infrastructure
Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability
Make key decisions around systems, tools, and architecture

2. Build and Ship the Platform

Take ownership of the existing MVP and push it to launch
Develop new features and improve existing ones
Ensure a seamless user experience across the platform
Maintain and improve code quality and performance

3. Own Video Infrastructure

Experience

5+ years of software engineering experience
Experience at a senior, lead, or director level
Proven experience building and shipping products

Required: Experience in video-based platforms, such as:

Video streaming services
Video hosting platforms
Live streaming systems
OTT platforms
Creator/video content platforms (UGC platforms)
Video encoding, transcoding, or delivery infrastructure
Any similar creator economy or video-based platform

Technical Skills

Strong full-stack engineering experience
Experience with React, Node.js, or similar technologies
Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Firebase, etc.)
Understanding of APIs, databases, and scalable systems
Experience with Docker or similar containerization tools

Strong plus:

Experience with CDNs and video delivery (e.g., Bunny.net, Cloudflare, etc.)
Knowledge of streaming protocols (HLS, DASH, etc.)
Experience optimizing performance for media-heavy platforms

Compensation

Equity-only at this stage

Transition to full-time, salaried role after funding

Significant upside tied to company growth

Remote (U.S.-based)

Occasional travel for key events (e.g., film festival)
