AI agents will increasingly use tools, access services, move data, and complete operational tasks with limited human involvement. The team

We are a small, experienced, high-ownership team with top academic & startup backgrounds moving fast on a big opportunity. You will work closely with the founders and have major influence on the product, architecture, and technical direction of the company.

The role

We are hiring a founding backend engineer to help build the core platform from the ground up.

This is a role for someone with strong backend fundamentals who also understands how to leverage modern AI well. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but you should be extremely familair with AI tools, AI agents, and the realities of building systems for agentic workflows.

You will work on APIs, orchestration, databases, security, reliability, and internal platform infrastructure. You should be excited to make foundational technical decisions in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.

What you will do:

Build core backend systems from scratch
Design APIs, services, data models, and workflows
Help shape architecture, security, concurrency, and reliability
Build infrastructure that can support AI-driven and agentic product behavior
Work closely with the founders on product and technical direction
Use AI tools effectively in your own engineering workflow

What we are looking for

Strong backend engineering skills and production experience
Solid understanding of databases, system design, security, concurrency, and distributed systems tradeoffs
Ability to build clean, pragmatic systems in ambiguous environments
Familiarity with AI tools and agent-style systems in practice
High ownership, strong judgment, and a builder mindset

Bonus points for

Early-stage startup experience
Experience with fintech
Experience building systems that interact with external tools and services
