Full Stack Engineer
Company Description
Norlantic Capital is a New York-based cross-border private equity firm focused on the U.S. middle market. The firm invests through a combination of fund commitments, co-investments, and separately managed accounts alongside leading U.S. middle market general partners, offering investors diversified exposure to one of the most active segments in private markets. Norlantic manages investment vehicles across multiple jurisdictions including the U.S., Cayman Islands, and Ireland. The firm operates as a lean, high-conviction platform where each team member has direct impact on firm outcomes.
Role Description
Norlantic is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to design, build, and maintain the internal AI-driven systems and tooling that power the firm's operations. This is a foundational technical role with broad ownership — you will be architecting and shipping production systems across the full stack, from backend services and data infrastructure to frontend interfaces and AI integrations. The position is open to candidates based in New York or fully remote. Reporting directly to firm leadership, this is an opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a growing firm from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development
- Design and build full stack REST APIs and backend services using Kotlin/Java with Ktor
- Develop web interfaces using TypeScript and React, and native desktop and mobile applications using Kotlin Multiplatform targeting Windows and Android
- Develop and maintain MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers using modern transport protocols (SSE and Streamable HTTP) to support AI agent workflows across the firm
- Implement and maintain role-based access control (RBAC) and authentication flows across all internal and external systems
- Own the full development lifecycle from architecture and implementation through testing, deployment, and monitoring
Infrastructure & Cloud
- Build and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, including EC2, ECS, and Aurora/PostgreSQL
- Containerize and orchestrate services using Docker and GitHub Actions
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, repeatable deployments
- Implement and manage Cloudflare Workers and Zero Trust network access policies to secure internal tooling and external-facing services
- Instrument and monitor services using OpenTelemetry and AWS CloudWatch, maintaining observability across all production systems including distributed tracing, metrics, and log aggregation
Security
- Embed security best practices throughout the stack, including secrets management, least-privilege access, network segmentation, and audit logging
- Maintain and enforce Zero Trust principles across infrastructure and application layers
- Conduct periodic security reviews and respond to vulnerabilities across the codebase and infrastructure
AI Systems & Integrations
- Build and extend the firm's internal AI tooling spanning the full scope of firm operations — including fund accounting, financial reporting, CRM, investor relations, deal sourcing, due diligence, information gathering, and data enrichment.
- Integrate with LLM providers (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) via API using LangChain and Kotlin Koog for agent orchestration, including tool use, structured outputs, and multi-step workflows
- Build pipelines that aggregate, enrich, and surface data from internal and external sources to support both investment decision-making and operational workflows
- Collaborate with the finance and investment teams to identify automation opportunities and translate them into reliable, production-grade systems
Ideal Qualifications
- Proven experience building and shipping full stack production applications
- Backend proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java, including experience with the JetBrains ecosystem (Ktor, Kotlin Multiplatform, Kotlin Koog)
- Frontend proficiency in TypeScript and React, including experience building web and native desktop/mobile interfaces
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, ECS, Aurora/RDS) and Docker-based deployments
- Familiarity with Cloudflare Workers and Zero Trust architecture
- Experience designing REST APIs and implementing RBAC and authentication systems (OAuth2/OIDC)
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or Aurora
- Exposure to LLM APIs and AI application development is a strong plus
- Experience with vector databases, embeddings, and RAG architectures is a strong plus
- Comfortable working autonomously in a small team environment with high ownership and limited process
