Before You Apply

We read every application. To make sure we are talking to the right people, add a page to the end of your resume with your answers to the three questions below. Save the combined file as AntonVP-[YourLastName] (e.g., AntonVP-Smith.pdf) and upload it as your resume. Applications without these answers will not be reviewed.

  1. Describe a feature or system you personally built or shipped in the last 6 months using an agentic AI coding tool. What tool did you use and what was your workflow?
  2. Name the AI development tools in your current daily workflow and describe how each one fits into your process.
  3. Describe a time you mentored someone technically brilliant but early in their career, ideally from an international or academic background. How did you develop them without slowing them down, and would you want to do that every day?

VP of Software Engineering

Full-Time · On-Site · Tempe, AZ · Reports to: Executive Leadership

We are not looking for a traditional VP of Software Engineering. We are looking for an AI zealot: someone who has fundamentally changed how they build software, believes AI-native development is the only way forward, and can lead a hungry team to move faster than any traditional engineering org thought possible.

About Anton Intelligence

Anton Intelligence is the technology and AI engine behind a growing family of B2B healthcare companies. We build the software platforms, data systems, and AI-powered tools that our affiliated companies run on. We are not a services firm and we do not build for consumers. We build internal products that matter immediately, with a team that moves fast and ships constantly.

Our engineering environment runs like a daily hackathon: small teams, fast builds, continuous pushes, and the expectation that everyone is creating, not coordinating. We are early, we are intentional, and we are building something that will grow well beyond our current footprint.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on founding role. You will set technical direction and ship alongside the team. You will write code using AI tools, review what gets built, define how AI is used across every workflow, and make fast decisions with incomplete information. You will also hire, mentor, and grow a team of sharp early-career engineers into a high-output unit.

There is no playbook, no inherited architecture, and no bureaucracy. If you thrive when the answer is not obvious and your instinct is to build your way to clarity, this role was written for you.

What We Believe

  • AI has permanently changed what a small team can accomplish. A small team with the right tools can out ship a much larger team running on legacy workflows.
  • Agentic coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot Workspace are not novelties. They are the new standard. If you are not using them daily, you are already behind.
  • Speed is a feature. We measure success in days, not weeks.
  • Perfect requirements are a myth. The best builders get moving with what they have, learn fast, and course-correct in stride.
  • The best engineering leaders use AI to write code and do reviews. They lead by doing, not just by directing.
  • Guardrails exist to enable speed, not slow it down. We operate with just enough structure to move with confidence.
  • A great team culture, built intentionally from day one, is a competitive advantage.

What You'll Do

Own the Technical Foundation

  • Define and own the architecture of the platforms our family of companies runs on
  • Define and enforce the framework in which AI is used across all engineering work
  • Make fast, high-conviction technology decisions with incomplete information and own the outcomes
  • Establish lean engineering practices: CI/CD, code review, deployment, and incident response, without enterprise overhead
  • Ensure systems meet HIPAA, SOC2, and PHI compliance requirements by design, not as an afterthought

Build and Ship Alongside the Team

  • Use AI tools to write, review, and accelerate code every day. This is not a role where you stop building.
  • Set the standard for AI-native development and hold the team to it
  • Stay ahead of emerging AI and developer tooling and bring the best of it into the stack continuously
  • Identify opportunities to automate workflows, eliminate manual effort, and multiply team output through AI

Grow a High-Output Team

  • Lead and mentor a team of early-career engineers, adapting your style to meet each person where they are
  • Scale the engineering org thoughtfully through hiring, onboarding, and structuring teams for sustainable growth
  • Build a culture of ownership and psychological safety where people take risks, speak up, and learn fast
  • Serve as the primary engineering interface between Tempe and our business units in Winter Garden and Nashville

Who You Are

  • We are looking for a leader who did not wait for permission to lead. Someone who was trusted with real responsibility early because they earned it through output, not tenure.
  • You are a daily user of agentic AI coding tools and can speak fluently about what works, what does not, and how they have changed the way you build.
  • Your background is in B2B software. You have built platforms, internal tools, or enterprise systems, not consumer apps or mobile products.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity. Incomplete specs are a starting point, not a blocker.
  • You have a builder mentality. You spike, iterate, and ship. You do not wait for perfect requirements.
  • You get your hands dirty. You write code, use AI to accelerate your output, and engage at the detail level. You are not a pure manager and do not want to be.
  • You operate well with just the right amount of guardrails and know when structure helps versus when it gets in the way.
  • You have high emotional intelligence and a natural ability to build trust with engineers who are early in their careers or from diverse international backgrounds.
  • You communicate with executives as clearly as you do with engineers. Translating between business intent and technical reality is second nature.
  • You have hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, cloud-native architecture, and modern DevOps practices.

If you are the kind of engineer who is always ahead of the curve and frustrated that the rest of the world has not caught up yet, you will feel at home here.

Work Environment

In-office at 180 S Ash Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282. Occasional travel to Winter Garden, FL and Nashville, TN may be required.

  • Anton Intelligence is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. We believe they make our team stronger.
