Artificial Intelligence Engineer
ClearDesk is an operational relief partner that provides dedicated, world-class remote talent from the Philippines and India to small and mid-sized businesses across the U.S. We serve home health care agencies, home services companies, and accounting firms — industries where scheduling, coordination, and CRM management are mission-critical.
The Role
We’re hiring our first AI Engineer to design, build, and ship a production AI scheduling agent that integrates with CRM platforms (ClearCare, WellSky, ServiceTitan) and handles real-time voice interactions with clients and caregivers. You’ll own the full stack — from voice pipeline architecture to CRM API integration to LLM orchestration.
This is a foundational hire. You’ll work directly with the CEO and manage two CS interns from UCSD, with the opportunity to build and lead the AI function as we scale.
What You’ll Build
- An AI scheduling agent that books, reschedules, and confirms appointments via natural voice conversations over phone and web
- Real-time voice pipeline integrating speech-to-text, LLM reasoning, and text-to-speech with sub-second latency
- Two-way CRM integrations that read and write scheduling data to platforms like ClearCare, WellSky, ServiceTitan, and HubSpot
- Intelligent conversation flows that handle edge cases, interruptions, and multi-turn scheduling logic without hallucinating
- Monitoring, logging, and feedback loops to continuously improve agent accuracy and reliability
Required Experience & Skills
- Engineering Foundation: 2–4 years of software engineering experience
- Strong Python and/or TypeScript backend development
- Experience designing and deploying production APIs and services
- Comfortable with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- LLM & AI Application Development: Hands-on experience building applications with LLMs
- Proficiency with OpenAI, Anthropic, or equivalent APIs
- Experience with prompt engineering, function calling, RAG, and managing conversation state
- Track record of shipping at least one AI-powered product (production or substantial side project)
- Voice & Conversational AI: Experience with at least one voice AI or telephony platform
- Familiarity with Vapi, Retell, ElevenLabs, Twilio, or similar
- Understanding of real-time audio pipelines: STT, TTS, latency management, barge-in handling
- Integration & Systems Thinking: Ability to build reliable integrations with third-party software via REST APIs, webhooks, and OAuth
- Comfort reading API documentation and working with imperfect or legacy systems
