Founding Engineer (Staff Level) | Computer Vision and Sensors | Start up | 100% remote | $200,000 - $250,000 USD + Equity

The Company

They’re an early-stage, pre-seed startup developing advanced AI-driven targeting technology designed for real-world environments. This isn’t a game. It’s built for live shooting ranges using real ammunition. Founded by ex-Navy Seals and Apple execs, they’re tackling a space that has seen little meaningful innovation. Their focus is on modernizing training environments, delivering precise performance data, and improving safety standards while they do it. With clear applications across civilian enthusiasts, law enforcement, and defense sectors, and early momentum in fundraising, they’re positioned to define a new category in a largely untouched market.

The Role

They’re hiring a founding-level engineer to help build the core of the product from the ground up. This is not a plug-and-play job. It’s ownership, architecture, and execution rolled into one. The ideal candidate operates comfortably across the full stack but brings deep, practical experience working with sensors and computer vision systems in real-world environments. This is not theoretical AI. It’s about capturing, interpreting, and reacting to live data with precision and reliability.

You’ll be expected to make foundational technical decisions, ship quickly, and adapt as the product evolves. This role sits at the intersection of software, hardware, and perception systems, where sensor input, computer vision models, and real-time feedback loops all need to work together seamlessly. This is a role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building from zero, and understands that early-stage environments demand both speed and accountability. The role can be done remotely, with flexibility across the US.

The Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop core product systems across the full stack
  • Design scalable, reliable infrastructure from the ground up
  • Build and integrate software that interacts directly with hardware and sensor systems
  • Develop and optimize computer vision pipelines for real-time data processing and analysis
  • Work with sensor inputs (e.g. cameras, tracking systems, environmental data) to drive accurate system behavior
  • Own the end-to-end flow from data capture → processing → actionable output
  • Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate in live, real-world environments
  • Collaborate closely with founders on product direction and technical strategy
  • Establish engineering best practices in a fast-moving startup setting

The Requirements

  • Strong experience in full-stack development with architectural depth
  • Proven experience working with computer vision systems (e.g. OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience integrating and working with sensor-driven systems (e.g. camera systems, tracking hardware, real-time data inputs)
  • Experience building systems that operate in real-world, non-controlled environments
  • Proven ability to build and own systems end-to-end in early-stage environments
  • Comfortable working across multiple programming languages
  • Demonstrated track record of shipping products, not just contributing to them
  • High level of autonomy, accountability, and problem-solving ability
  • Startup mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, pace, and evolving priorities

The Remuneration

  • Competitive base salary
  • Meaningful equity as a founding team member
  • Opportunity to directly influence product and technical direction
  • Exposure to a high-impact, real-world application of AI technology
  • Flexible working arrangements within the US
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k)

If you’re the kind of engineer who gets bored maintaining someone else’s code and would rather build something from scratch, this is that opportunity. They’re not looking for passengers. They’re looking for someone who wants to shape the product, the architecture, and the company itself. If that sounds like you, don’t hesitate to send through an application.
