Software Engineer

🚀 Hiring: Founding Engineer (AI / Systems)

We’re looking for an exceptional engineer to work on complex, unstructured problems using AI and build systems that don’t have existing playbooks. If you thrive in ambiguity and love solving hard problems end-to-end, this role is for you.

💰 Salary: $250,000 – $400,000 per year

📍 Location: San Francisco, CA (In-person)

🕒 Experience Level: 5–7 years

🔧 What You’ll Do

Build AI-driven systems to solve complex production problems

Design and develop tools for debugging, observability, and automation

Work across backend, infrastructure, and intelligent systems

Tackle ambiguous problems and create solutions from first principles

Own projects end-to-end with high autonomy

✅ Requirements

Level 3 autonomy — operates independently without being managed

1+ years using AI to solve complex, unstructured problems

Strong communication — simplifies complex ideas clearly

Demonstrable evidence of exceptional ability (“edge”)

Background in high-signal dev tools or AI environments

Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco

⭐ Preferred Background

Experience at xAI, Affirm (pre-2021), Cursor, Ramp, Retool, Perplexity, DataDog, Sentry, or similar

Built real-world AI solutions for hard problems (not just pipelines or fine-tuning)

Curious builder mindset — learns by doing

Grit, courage, and ability to operate outside comfort zone

Strong product thinking — understands systems end-to-end

Able to estimate and execute projects with high confidence
