AI Systems Associate - Office of the CEO
Doing product research online feels harder than ever. AI promised better information. Instead it flooded the web with hallucinations, generated content, and confident-sounding answers that have no idea what's true.
Product.ai is building the truth engine for shopping. When every other AI tool summarizes and guesses, we verify. Not opinions. Not averages. Ground truth.
Self-funded and profitable for over a decade, we're a team of e-commerce veterans who have been building commerce truth systems at scale. Over a billion dollars in annual transaction volume. Millions of customers served.
Every person at this company uses AI to do the work of three. The CEO uses AI to do the work of ten. We need a technical builder who works directly with the CEO to build the systems that make that possible - and make them better every week. Not a strategist who presents frameworks. Not an analyst who writes memos. A builder who sees how the CEO spends time, identifies what can be automated or systematized, and builds the system that eliminates it. You'll prototype products, build AI workflows, automate recruiting pipelines, create internal tools, and pressure-test decisions with data - all in the same week.
This role has no analog at other companies. The closest description: you're the person who makes the entire company faster by building the systems nobody else has time to build, with direct access to the person making every strategic decision.
Santa Monica, CA. In the office, every day. You learn how a company works by being in the room, not on a screen.
What You Will Build
- AI Workflows and Automation. You'll build the bots, automations, and system prompts that multiply the CEO's output and the team's velocity. Recruiting screening workflows, competitive intelligence pipelines, data extraction systems, internal tooling. Today these are manual or don't exist. You'll make them automatic. If you can't code it, you'll use Claude, Make, Notion automations, or whatever tool gets it built fastest.
- Product Prototypes. When the CEO has a product hypothesis, you build the prototype that tests it. Not a deck. Not a spec. A working thing that real users can touch. You'll work directly with engineering, ship features, measure impact, and kill what doesn't work. This is not theoretical product management - you'll be in the codebase, the data, and the user sessions.
- Strategic Research That Ends in Action. Own the research questions that determine where the company goes. Competitive intelligence, market analysis, user behavior, verification benchmarking. The difference between you and a traditional analyst: your research ends with a recommendation AND the first version of the system that implements it. AI tools multiply your research velocity so you cover ground that would take a team weeks.
- Operational Systems. When something creates friction, you own fixing it. Not by filing a ticket - by building the system that eliminates the friction permanently. Every task you touch should take 80% less time within 30 days because you built something that automates or streamlines it.
Who You Are
- You build with AI, not just use it. You've built something with AI tools - a workflow, an app, an automation, a bot. Not as an experiment. As something that actually works and that people actually use. You can describe what you built, why it works, and what you'd improve. This is non-negotiable.
- You are technical enough to be dangerous. You can code, or you can build sophisticated automations without code. You're comfortable with APIs, data pipelines, prompt engineering, and system architecture. You don't need to be a software engineer, but you need to build real systems, not just describe them.
- You think in systems, not tasks. When someone asks you to do something manually, your first thought is "how do I make sure nobody ever has to do this manually again?" You've built processes that outlasted your involvement. You see the pattern behind the request.
- You tell the CEO when something won't work. You disagree when you disagree. You've given feedback to someone senior and it landed because it was substantive, not performative. Sycophantic agreement is a fireable offense at Product.ai. We need someone who makes the CEO's thinking sharper, not someone who validates it.
- You learn fast across domains. Commerce, AI architecture, product design, financial modeling - you don't need expertise on day one, but you get useful fast. You've taught yourself something substantial outside your formal education and can describe exactly how.
- You care about this problem specifically. You have opinions about why product research is broken, why AI-generated content is making shopping worse, or why verification matters. You didn't apply because "the workflows are the same regardless of the problem." You applied because this problem is worth solving.
Ownership
We don't do corporate comp theater. Every builder at Product.ai is an actual owner.
- Base: $100,000 - $130,000. Your base covers your life; your ownership builds your freedom.
- Equity: You receive a formal ownership stake via Profits Interest Units (PIUs) - Class B Membership Interests with a $0 strike price. Not options. Not RSUs. Actual ownership that participates in the upside from day one and qualifies for Capital Gains tax treatment.
- Profit Sharing: As an equity holder, you receive a pro-rata share of the company's Free Cash Flow - real cash, every year. Not a promise tied to a future exit.
- Liquidity: We run an Annual Tender Offer where the company buys back vested interests at fair market value. You can convert ownership into cash every year. No waiting for an IPO.
- Benefits: 100% premium coverage for you and your family, daily catered lunches, unlimited PTO that we actually expect you to use.
