Forward Deployed Engineer
We’re partnered with a high-growth AI startup building technology that’s redefining how complex work gets done inside large enterprises.
Their platform blends natural language with traditional programming to automate multi-step workflows—replacing hours of manual effort with fast, reliable systems that actually work in production.
They’re already deployed with major global customers and scaling quickly. Now they’re looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to help drive real-world impact at the intersection of product, engineering, and customer operations.
The Role
This is not a traditional engineering role.
You’ll operate as a hybrid of engineer, operator, and customer partner—working directly with enterprise customers to understand their workflows, build solutions, and ensure successful deployments.
You won’t just write code—you’ll own outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Work directly with customers to understand complex workflows and operational pain points
- Break down ambiguous processes into structured, executable systems
- Build and deploy automation solutions using a mix of engineering and AI-driven tooling
- Own implementations end-to-end—from discovery through production rollout
- Iterate quickly with customers and drive adoption
- Partner with product and engineering to improve the platform
- Help define best practices for scaling deployments
What They’re Looking For
- Strong full-stack coding ability is essential
- 2–8 years of experience as a software engineer in a fast-paced startup environment (required)
- Excellent communication skills—comfortable working directly with customers
- Experience at reputable startups and/or prior founding/founding engineer experience strongly preferred
- Ability to operate across functions (engineering + product, growth, or customer-facing work)
- High ownership mindset—you take initiative and drive things forward
- Comfort with ambiguity and fast-paced environments
- Strong academic background (top university preferred if startup experience is limited)
Environment
- In-person (San Francisco or New York)
- High-intensity, high-ownership culture—this is not a 40-hour/week role
- Small, talent-dense team working on novel, real-world problems
- Direct exposure to customers, product decisions, and company trajectory
