Frontend Developer
⚡Founding Engineer – Financial Analytics Infrastructure
🌍 New York City (4 days in-office)
💲Competitive Salary + Meaningful Early-Stage Equity
The Company
Storm2's client is a Series A-stage FinTech rebuilding institutional financial analytics from the ground up. Their entry point is portfolio risk and attribution for hedge funds and asset managers, but the architecture is built to go much further: GPU-accelerated compute that delivers in seconds what legacy systems like MSCI Barra and BlackRock Aladdin take hours to process. They have institutional clients in production, a recently completed raise, and hundreds of billions in assets expected to run through the platform by year end. Two technical founders, one founding engineer, and a very high bar.
The Role
Most financial analytics platforms are slow, rigid, and built over decades by companies that haven't had a reason to change. Bayesline is building what replaces them, and they're doing it with a modern AI and GPU compute stack rather than the same infrastructure the incumbents have been patching since the nineties.
This is a founding engineer role, which means the scope is deliberately broad. You'll own meaningful parts of the product and platform across portfolio risk, performance attribution, scenario analysis, and chart-driven analytical workflows. It's a Python-first, API-driven environment with a React and TypeScript front end, and you'll be expected to move across both with real judgment, not just execute tasks handed down from above.
This isn't a greenfield build. There's substantial functionality and genuine product complexity already in place, which means the opportunity is to improve and extend a real platform rather than start from scratch. That's a different skill than pure greenfield work, and the founders are clear about it. If you're the person who wants to turn a fast-moving, technically ambitious product into something that scales well and gets more polished with every release, rather than the person who only thrives when there's nothing to inherit, this is worth your time.
You'll work directly with founders who have seen this problem from inside BlackRock and Bloomberg. The team is small and intends to stay that way.
What you'll be working on:
- Owning core product workflows across portfolio risk, attribution, scenario analysis, and related areas
- Architectural decisions across APIs, backend systems, and user-facing application structure
- Building AI-assisted analytical experiences and replacing manual workflows that legacy platforms still rely on
- Using AI actively in development while applying sound judgment on code quality and long-term maintainability
- Helping extend the initial risk-model wedge into a broader institutional analytics platform over time
What you'll bring:
- Strong engineering fundamentals with experience building complex, data-heavy products end-to-end
- Comfort operating as a generalist across backend, APIs, and user-facing systems
- Python-first background with React and TypeScript across the front end
- Real product and UI instincts: you can tell when something is being built the right way and when it isn't
- Comfort with AI in day-to-day development and the judgment to evaluate and improve what it produces
- Appetite for high-ownership, early-stage environments with close collaboration with technical founders
Strong plus:
- Experience in hedge funds, asset managers, or financial technology companies
- Familiarity with institutional portfolio analytics, risk, or quantitative workflows
- Background in analytics, BI, data platform, or compute-heavy systems
Stack: React + TypeScript, Python / FastAPI / Pydantic, JAX / Flax for GPU-accelerated analytics, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes
