Greylock invested in a stealth enterprise AI company and now we are helping the founders to find a Senior to Staff Backend Engineer.

We're at an inflection point where AI can navigate software, click buttons, and complete multi-step workflows like a human. This team is building for that moment.

The founding team brings deep experience scaling enterprise AI products and a track record of prior exits.

The team is small and early, based in San Francisco with a hybrid setup (3+ days in office).

Required Qualifications

7+ years of backend engineering experience
Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Go, Python, Rust, Node.js, etc.)
Deep experience designing and building RESTful or gRPC APIs for highly available, distributed systems
Solid understanding of database technologies — relational, NoSQL, and their tradeoffs
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern DevOps practices
Familiarity with LLM APIs, AI orchestration frameworks, or building systems that integrate with AI/ML models
Experience designing backend infrastructure to support real-time or agentic AI workflows
Proven ownership across the full engineering lifecycle: design, build, deploy, and operate
